New Farscape Trailer Up

Farscape Peacekeeper War trailer is up

Not to sure about this, doesn't actually look that good a trailer but I'm hoping thats just inexperience in making trailers. Although it's good to know John's still barking mad...

Happy Birthday Virginia Dare

Happy Birthday to Virginia Dare, first child born in America of English parents in the Roanoke Colony on August 18, 1587.

Also happy birthday to Phobos, Mars's largest moon, discovered on this date by Asaph Hall in 1877.

I could get lost in Wikipedia sometimes, you know.

How not to buy happiness

Just had a read through this article on How not to buy happiness and it's really stuck a chord with my mood at the moment. It makes the radical suggestion that peoples happiness is not linked to how much money they earn, how big their house is or how much 'stuff' they own, but in fact is to do with how much time we can devote to family and friends, to exercise, sleep, travel and the like. [via the Guardian's Onlineblog]

It's nice to know I'm not going mad as I've been ruminating on how despite achiving that job in the internet industry that I've (or possibly my just my parents) have always wanted that I'm quite down and generally stressed at the moment. It's all to do with time I think, it's probably a sign of impending middle age (Jesus did I just type that?) that I've realised that time is most precious thing I possess. I definately need to sort my life out as in that regard I don't think I'm cut out to be a workaholic.

Also put me in mind of this story about Prozac in our water that's doing the rounds at the moment. It's revealing that no one actually mentions how much Prozac is actually in the water, but the fact that it's actually measurable should give everyone pause. Yet another case of where treating the symptoms not the cause is comming round to bite us on the ass.

Link-o-rama

First up is the the Brown Sisters by Nicholas Nixon. This is a collection of photographs of his wife Bebe and her three sisters, taken once a year over the past twenty five years. It's amazing to see up close, I saw it at the Tate Modern last year and it was probably the best thing in the exhibtion, if you get the chance to see Nixon's works take it.

Also up is Lewis Carroll's Scrapbook, the US Library of Congress have digitised the whole thing and put it up on the web. You can also check out some early William Blake books in this part of the collection.

Oh and they've found found a three story underground city in Iran, no pictures as yet though unfortunately. Something to do with a large sandstorm that's cut of communication with the dig or somesuch I imagine.

Unrelated flash weirdness

I've just been watching Creep, a wondeful flash animation of Radiohead's song (no it's good, honest) by the same people who brought you Low Moral.

Also on the subject of weird french web animation try We Come in Peace click on season one and get the little guy to eat the rocks to see what's going on. Trust me it will all make sense in the end.

Unrelated weirdness is The Phone. Make the call.

Death and Taxis

Ultimate Death survey as posted by Hepstar and Xullrae....

What do you think happens after you die? Food for worms.

Do you believe in heaven? No

Do you believe in hell? No

Do you think you will be judged after you die? Not by god or the universe, but possoble my friends will give me marks out of ten.

How many people would attend your funeral? Quite a few I hope, I hold by the statement that no man is a failure if he has friends so I hope some would turn up even if just for free booze.

Would you rather that people cry or laugh at your funeral? Whatevers necessary, but I would like some laughs at the very least.

What's better? A shot in the head or downing pills? Shot in the head, pills are slow.

What should be written on your tombstone? I honestly have no idea, I've always facied being buried under a tree sapling though.

Would you rather die childless or divorced? Divorced, would like someone to carry on with my genetics however flawed they may be.

Do you want to die in the morning, afternoon, or night? Early morning, but who knows.

If you had a million dollars to leave, who would you leave it to? People who needed it.

What kind of flowers do you want at your funeral? Bright colours, although I might consider those people who had hayfever.

On your deathbed, which moment will you most remember? I don't know, ask me then possibly? I'd hope it would be the good times rather than the bad.

Have you ever watched someone die? No.

What's the most gruesome death you can imagine?
Being alone as I get eaten by something, possibly death ants.

How often do you think about death? Quite often.

Is fear of dying your number one fear? No.

Do you believe in reincarnation? No.

Have you ever wished someone you loved were dead? No.

Do you consider life short or long? Trite it may be but everyone gets a lifetime.

Do you think you have a soul? Depends on what you mean by that, I can't play sax for a start.

Assisted suicide for a terminally ill person is: Fine if it isn't abused.

If you were cremated, where would you like your ashes? No cremation for me, but if necessary somewhere high up, possibly cliffs overlooking the ocean.

Would you choose to be immortal, if you could be? No, I've had my life let my children have theirs.
